Our Deepest Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

~ from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson

Wow. Just wow!

A fellow writer posted this quote in our forum and it caught me.

How many of us hold ourselves back, as if we aren't worthy?

WHO says we aren't worthy? Is it that little whisper of inadequacy in the back of our minds, undercutting all that we do? Is it the world, intruding once again into God's Word, telling us that we can't be what we were intended to be, that we are only what the ignorant onlookers think we should be?

I say NO!.

Ms Williamson got it right. We are all children of God, an essential part of the Creation, and we need to bust out and let the Light within us shine.

Today, lay it all into the Lord's most capable hands, then go do that job, start that novel, write that poem, sing that song. Today is a new day unto the Lord -- and it's your job to go out and work it to the max!

So get busy with it already!
